Welcome to Mark D Hunter Music. I’m a singer-songwriter and guitar player living in Petoskey, Michigan. I was raised in Scotland, and my original songs explore the cultural links between Scotland and the USA. I also write music that embraces the natural world – the landscapes of Scotland and Michigan feature prominently in my work. While my songs might best be described as contemporary Scottish music, they span the range from folk to jazz and blues.
I’m available for live shows in and around Michigan, and offer original tunes for download. If you want to hear some Scottish-influenced music in northern Michigan, please come to a live show in Petoskey, or invite me to perform at your venue or private event.
I’ve always loved music, and I started playing live in the 1970s, back in Edinburgh. Although the length of my hair has gone up and down (and up, and down again), my love for sharing my music has remained the same!
When I moved to the States in the late 1980s, I began a career that allowed me to follow my other passion – a love for the natural world. But I never stopped playing music, and many of my songs explore themes of nature, land use, and sense of place. Now, I’m back focusing full-time on my music, and look forward to sharing it with you on Mark D Hunter Music.
